Determining the best job posting strategy for your business is a crucial first step to getting the applicant flow you need! If you've only used organic job postings, transitioning to an ATS with indexed jobs can help you streamline your process and get better visibility for your ads. If you've never explored sponsored campaigns, consider whether that might be the right step for you – and how to optimize your jobs first so you get the most bang for your buck!

💡 Organic vs. indexed jobs: what's the difference? |
|
|
Organic jobs are jobs that a recruiter posts on Indeed directly, free of cost. Since there is no real barrier to posting an organic job, an enormous number of these jobs get posted every day – which means organic jobs quickly get buried under newer and newer results and have to compete fiercely for views. By default, these jobs receive deprioritized traffic compared to sponsored & indexed jobs. So while these jobs are free to post, there's a hidden cost: if you were to build a job posting strategy around organic jobs, you'd need to put a lot of work into reposting and refreshing listings just to keep your jobs visible and competitive. Even then, you'd be relying on job seekers searching for the right terms or wading through pages of results to find them. Unless you have a lot of time on your hands, it's not the most effective way to advertise your open roles. |
Indexed jobs are jobs that are originally posted on an ATS platform (like HigherMe) or a careers site but that are cross-posted to Indeed. There are a few different ways an ATS or careers site can send these jobs to Indeed. HigherMe is an Indeed Platinum Partner 2024, so we use Indeed's own ATS Sync & Quick Apply to send our jobs over. That means our jobs show up on Indeed faster, data transfers more smoothly, and applications are quicker to complete. We even sync EEOC data between platforms! Indexed jobs that meet Indeed's job posting criteria generally receive strong visibility. |

🚨 In October 2024, Indeed announced it would stop providing free visibility for organic job postings by employers who were already posting indexed jobs. If you've used HigherMe for a while, you know that we already strongly recommend you turn off any organic job postings prior to activating your HigherMe jobs, as publishing duplicate jobs only hurts your Indeed visibility. Our recommendation has not changed. Questions about this new policy? Feel free to reach out to friends@higherme.com! |
