HigherMe partners with Checkr, a modern background check platform, to make screening and onboarding new hires even more efficient! We offer Checkr to any clients using our paperless onboarding feature.
Setting up our Checkr integration is quick: you'll be able to run a background check in a matter of days! Note that you must have admin-level permissions to activate the integration.
The set-up process depends on whether you're new to Checkr or you have an existing Checkr account:

- Click the Checkr thumbnail on your HigherMe Integrations page.
- Click on Authenticate.
- If you have an existing Checkr account, you'll be able to sign in with your normal Checkr login credentials.

โ๏ธ I need to create a Checkr account: |
- Click the Checkr thumbnail on your HigherMe Integrations page.
- Click on Authenticate.
- You'll be taken to a landing page to enter your company information. Complete the steps here to create your new Checkr account.
- You will be required to enter payment information but you can change it at any time, including before running your first background check. Note that there's no cost to set up an account: Checkr only charges for the background checks that you run.
- You will see the default packages that will be automatically included in your account. These can be changed to fit your needs โ just reach out to Checkr via this form!
- Once Checkr has received your information, they'll send you an email confirming that they're creating your account. It can take up to 3 business days for your new account to be created.
- Once your account is ready, you will receive an email including login credentials you can use to authenticate our Checkr integration.
- Head back over to the HigherMe Integrations page, click on the Checkr thumbnail, and log in with these new credentials.
- Finally, email friends@higherme.com to enable your integration. (Required.) This is the last set-up step!

๐ Using the Checkr integration: |
- When you invite a new hire to onboard, a new page will open with three tabs. The first tab, Applicant info, will have a place for you to add a background check.
- Follow the steps in the next two tabs to submit your onboarding invitation (or read more here).
- Once you've successfully invited the candidate to onboard, the candidate will receive an email inviting them to view their offer letter and start their onboarding flow. They will be prompted to start the background check as part of their onboarding flow.
The candidate will only have a few days to start and complete their check before it expires. ๐ If their link expires, you can send them a new link through your Checkr dashboard.
- Once complete, you can see a candidate's background check status in the Screenings column of your Onboarding dashboard.

Typically, only Company admins can review and approve background checks. However, you can log into Checkr and add more users to your account to give them access to review and approve background checks as needed. Note that they will still need the proper HigherMe permissions to finalize an onboarding employee.
