Recording a video cover letter

Many jobs on HigherMe will give you the option to submit a video cover letter with your application. Some employers even require it! If you have the option to include a video, you'll see a Video tab within your application (after the Questions tab). Click on the movie camera icon to get started.

If you're having trouble recording, it's likely because your browser does not have permission to use your camera and/or microphone. Here's how to set up/troubleshoot depending on your device.

📱  If you're using a phone

To start, open your phone. If you're already using HigherMe in your phone's browser, you can close that for right now.

1. Open your phone's list of applications and go to your Settings page.
2. Open Privacy and scroll to the section with app permissions.
3. Click on Camera and Microphone to see their current permissions.
4. Select the name of your browser from the list. (We recommend using Chrome.)
5. Turn the toggle to ON or click Approve.
6. Go back to your browser and refresh the page.

You should now be able to record your video!

💻  If you're using a computer
To start, open your web browser (we recommend using Chrome) on your computer. In your browser, click the lock icon 🔒 in the left corner of your address bar. From the lock menu, click on Site settings. Select the permission that you want to change (Camera or Microphone). Check out this Chrome guide if you're still having trouble! Go back to the Video step of your application and refresh the page. You should now be able to record your video!
	Note: you must give your browser access to both your camera and your mic. Repeat the above steps as necessary.
